ranch out west

Our clients were looking to spiff up their new barn-turned-home in Rocksprings, Texas. Very much into Native American history, they desired a homey, rustic feel. We quickly decided on a palette of rich neutrals, reds, and a touch of denim blue. To keep the look natural and warm, ceilings were kept in their original wood form. We layered various vintage Aztec and Kilim textiles and included a handful of the owners wife’s original art throughout the space. To create a focal point and fill the large white wall, we used heavy duty metal clips to display a vintage Kilim rug from Turkey. A former printer’s drawer was hung near the entry for the owner and his granddaugther to display their arrowhead and rock finds, and a little teepee stands prominently in the living room for her to play and read books. Lastly, we sourced a vintage green dresser from a local antique shop and had it converted to a bathroom vanity. The results howl hill country, with coziness in every corner.
